Basic lingerie labels; because less is more

Pared back brands to know about

Understated underwear is getting a good rep.

For those who haven’t always opted for plain, practical, comfortable consider this – refined, contemporary designs with seamless sex appeal.

Who wants push ups and padding, bells and whistles (OTT frill, tassel, trim) when brands are offering up sustainable, underwire free, cotton and silk delicates to die for?

Yes, every woman has a personal preference around fabric, design detail, shape and colourway.  And even the art (because it totally is) of putting a bra on can divide a room.

QQ: Do you clasp it at the front upside down, twist it around and pull up the straps OR put your arms in first and clasp it from behind?

That said, when it comes to it, a good set of underwear is like a good coffee – strong, full of body, hot.

For Jo Rossell, the Founder and Designer behind Rossell England, playing up pared-back across her underwire free collections has been key.

“It is the non-synthetic fabrics I use, in particular the natural stretch cotton which is more commonly used in ready-to-wear than lingerie,” she says.

“Combined with the geometric cut and construction, this offers the same amount of support as a conventional under-wired bra, giving the wearer a sense of freedom.”

Wearable intimates that go with anything, nod to the rise in luxury fashion conscious consumers *and* look good? Yuh huh.

These are the brands – evocative, edgy, easy on the eye – you need to know and a basic line about them.
