Last Thursday evening marked the official launch of leading Lebanese fine jewellers Dori & Alia Mouzannar into the UK. The exhibition showcased new and retrospective work from both designers alongside the exclusive collaborative piece designed by distinguished Architect Zaha Hadid entitled the ‘Silene Cuff’.
To celebrate the collaboration, Push PR hosted a glamourous evening of luxury craftsmanship and design at the Zaha Hadid Design Gallery. The night attracted a guest list of VIP’s, influencers, luxury Editors and private clients, who were joined by Dame Zaha Hadid and designers Dori and Alia Mouzannar.
At the centre of attention was the highly anticipated ‘Silene Cuff’; a piece defined by the form and fluidity of Zaha Hadid’s breath taking architecture and executed by the house of Mouzannar from 18 karat white gold and an astounding 1048 set diamonds. Due to the success of the piece, the ‘Silene Cuff’ marks the start of a bigger collection designed by Zaha Hadid, which will launch in 2015.
In 1991 cousins Dori & Alia Mouzannar took to the helm of the family run jewellery house which was previously run by their fathers Aziz & Walid Mouzannar and has a rich heritage dating back to the 18th Century. Although the designers come from the same house their aesthetic and approach offer an intriguing diversity. Dori’s collections define his rich education in gemmology and combine modernity with the classical elements of traditional jewellery. Each of his pieces can be distinguished by a signature single set ruby, giving a final flourish to each design. In contrast Alia’s collections combine functionality with a delicate feminine elegance, citing the modern woman as her muse. Having studied architecture many of her pieces showcase intricate mechanical elements most clearly observed in her ‘Modular’ designs, some of which offer up to 13 ways of wearing a single piece. With a striking and varied collection, the energy and response from guests provided a tangible buzz and sparked a huge response across social media.
The exhibition was then extended into a 5 day pop-up, including a “Meet The Designers Brunch” hosted by Exeter Street Bakery at the Zaha Hadid Design Gallery, where guests could shop the range in the serene setting of the gallery.
Dori and Alia are set to launch into leading stockists in London in Spring 2015 and until then you can find out more online at http://www.awmouzannar.com/home
