Joining EC One for this Autumn/Winter is jewellery designer Jenny Hattersley and her off-beat accessories label, Dark Horse Ornament. Having already been featured in the style pages of Vogue and Grazia  this new designer is one to watch.

How would you describe your personal style?

Eclectic, layered, tonal colours and the occasional graphic print – the perfect foil for a piece of standout jewellery!

What does a normal working day for you consist of?

Sketching, cutting, assembling, stitching, hammering etc. all punctuated by frequent cups of tea & coffee.

How did your love affair with jewellery start?

My granddad always brought fantastic and worldly treasures back from his travels and subsequently my mum built up a pretty amazing and diverse jewellery collection,- as a result I guess my love for beautiful adornments developed from an early age.

What do you think are the key trends for jewellery SS11?

Natural fabrics, textural layers and tassels in neutrals with flashes of vibrant colour.

What would be your golden nugget piece of advice to an aspiring jewellery designer?

Keep plugging away….if you have unfaltering faith in your designs then other people will come to share that belief too.

Who would play you in a movie?

Samantha Morton

What’s your party trick?

Falling asleep on a speaker stack -I’ve never been great at staying up all night, no matter how loud the sound system!

Who/What has been your greatest influence?

Who’s your favourite designer and what do you love about them?

Consuelo Castiglioni,- she is a powerhouse of original designs with an amazing understanding of colour, print and texture and seems to approach her work and the industry with such integrity.

If you could have any accent other than your own, what would it be?

Favourite quote:

You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear

In a nutshell your philosophy is:

What’s for you’ll not go by you
