Jasper Garvida was born in the Philippines and lived in Toronto from the age of 12. Aged 19, Jasper enrolled at the International Academy of Design in Toronto, where he learnt the important technical skills a Fashion Designer requires, namely Tailoring, Pattern Cutting and Construction. Following this he studied womenswear at the prestigious Central St Martins School of Art & Design graduating in 2004. On graduation Jasper's first appointment was designing for Couture Label Michiko Koshino. As chief designer, Jasper created collections for two seasons before taking up an opportunity to further his knowledge in all aspects of the fashion industry by moving to the High Street to design for Monsoon & Miss Selfridge. The discipline of designing for an everyday consumer enabled Jasper to further understand, from a designers' perspective, exactly what women want. In 2008 Jasper launched his eponymous label and won Sky One’s Project Catwalk hosted by Kelly Osborne. Jasper has won many plaudits from major figures in the fashion industry such as Zandra Rhodes.
