A (distant) warm welcome to our new Senior BFW Account Manager; Nicole Verdugo

These are uncertain times for any business, however Push are delighted to share some exciting news amidst the confusion, as we welcome Nicole Verdugo as our new Beauty, Fitness & Wellbeing Senior Account Manager!

A little about Nicole; with her dual-nationality, she’s been fortunate enough to travel extensively and experience people from all walks of life. She’s always had a fascination for the different outlets of communication and the power it holds. Nicole’s curiosity to learn new and innovative ways of engaging with different audiences (be it from spoken word to body language, stage presence and so on), led her to study Theatre at University. Coming from a performance background, beauty and wellbeing was a natural interest and an almost essential part of Nicole’s life. Like many, she took a leap of faith and started her career in PR. Since then, Nicole has worked with a mix of luxury beauty, wellbeing and fitness brands both in-house and agency. In her spare time, Nicole is also currently training to become a life coach. Her motto in life; “Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives” (- Brené Brown)

Starting a new position in these turbulent times is quite unique, so we asked Nicole to tell us how her first week at Push has been working from home, away from the team and how she feels these next few weeks will effect the industry ….

Where do I begin?! It has been something completely new and unexpected, however I thrive when given a challenge as often, that is where the best work comes from. When thrown into the unknown, you just have to run with it, enjoy the experience and perform to the best of your ability. It has definitely been a great learning curve already, allowing me the space to reflect and refine my skillset that bit more. After all, communication is everything. I remind myself daily that a) it is crucial to over communicate during this time and, b) there is no such thing as a ‘stupid’ question. I am grateful for joining such an open, honest and friendly team.

Having not met the #PushTEAM physically is challenging, yes, but when there is a will there is a way. We are so lucky to live in a world where we can communicate through so many different mediums. Whether it be Skype, Zoom, voice notes, or e-mail, we can still inject trust and rapport within our community. As well as having online team meetings, I have ensured to lock down 1-1 time with each team member. That way I can get to know everyone on a personal level as well as getting a feel for the overall agency. Relationship building really is key.

Luckily I have had experience working from home before and so I have definitely picked up some tips and tricks along the way. Firstly, I always make sure I get up early, shower, dress as I usually would a ‘normal’ working day. This immediately puts me into the right mindset for the day ahead. I rarely ever skip breakfast (my favourite meal of the day), and I am a true believer that a clean space helps create a clear mind. I like my working space to be as decluttered as possible and with as much natural light as I can get. You’ll always find a plant, a candle, and some lip balm / gloss on my desk, too!

On my first day of being a part of the #PushTEAM, I was able to get a small bag of Push products together. From the get-go, I am loving the hero Patchology FlashPatch Eye Revive Hydrogels. I love taking a deeper dive into ingredients, and these eye patches contain caffeine and hydrolysed collagen to stimulate micro-circulation, and combat signs of fatigue and puffiness. Another lockdown product of mine is the Maria Nila Structure Repair Hair Masque. My scalp tends to be quite sensitive, so I love the fact that the range is sulphate and paraben free. And lastly, the Savon hand serum by SHIRO. This product is a wonder – worker that keeps my hands super hydrated and healthy. A must- have product during a period when we are washing our hands more than ever!

The current climate has definitely allowed us all to take a step back and look at the industry in a new light. The community we have online is huge – let’s celebrate and maximise on what we have. It is great to see fitness sessions and makeup masterclasses being held through IGTV and various other online platforms. This is a chance to slow down, listen to our bodies, and acknowledge the importance of self – care. This may involve a facial massage with your favourite serum or treating your muscles to a foam roller before or after a workout.
