National Sleep Day: Push PR’s top tips on how to take time for yourself

We're celebrating National Sleep Day today by sharing our top tips and trick on how to relax and improve the quality of your sleep

Today, Push PR is celebrating National Sleep Day! Yes, we have all had to wake up this morning and head out into the office, but the team here have learned a few tricks as to how to take time for themselves during the day to be able to get a much needed beauty sleep after a long day.

Our favourite stationary band kikki.K has long shared their best tips on how to improve the quality of your sleep. One of our favourites? “Spending just 30 minutes a day switching off from the world can improve your overall sleep. Take regular breaks and make sure you get offline for at least 30 minutes every day”.

We asked the Push team what they do to relax for 30 minutes during their busy day or before going to bed and clearly we have a few winners in terms of best practice …

“Before I go to sleep I make sure my phone is on silent, get into bed and read for at least 30 minutes. I get to sleep much quicker and feel so much better for it in the morning” Georgina Robertson, Account Manager

“I remember when Stylist Magazine did their #reclaimyourlunchbreak campaign. Since then I try to read for 30 minutes away from my desk to reclaim my lunch break! I’m currently reading ‘Small Great Things’ by Jodi Picoult” Nafisah Boateng, Junior Account Manager 

“I lay in bed and read my book for half an hour before bed each night. At the moment I’m reading ‘Feminists Don’t Wear Pink and Other Lies’ which is a collection of essays by Scarlett Curtis” – Kaitlin Allen, Junior Account Executive

“Before bed I put my phone on the other side of my room and read a book or a magazine for 30 minutes before I go to sleep. This helps me switch my brain off and fall asleep” – Tori Porter, Account Executive

“I listen to Headspace, the meditation app every night before bed to switch off and prepare for a good night’s sleep. It only takes 10 minutes of meditation before I’m fast asleep!” – Rosi Cooke, PR Coordinator

“I like to use my commute to do some meditation; I use the time I am forced to be offline to sit with my eyes closed and focus on my breathing” – Jess Bush, Beauty Director

“Spraying my Root and Flower Yoga and Atmosphere Spray and not looking at my phone for 30 minutes before I get into bed helps me to properly relax and switch off from the iPhone/outside world” – Holly Marsh, Senior Account Executive

“Taking the tube in the morning and evening is the one moment I have to myself which I cherish; mostly because there’s no wifi so I’m unreachable for some precious 30 minutes.
