Erna Leon is the Style Curator and Creative Director behind London based womenswear website, MERCER7.
Not only do her digital wardrobe edits ticks boxes when it comes to classic, contemporary, wearbable fashion (all shopable, obviously) but the website also works as an editorial hub that includes features and interviews with pioneering business women shaking things up cross-industry.
We caught up with Erna ahead of Fashion Week to talk style, social media and after parties. Have a read and scope out her latest looks on Instagram.
What are you most looking forward to this LFW?
Seeing all of the shows and catching up with old friends that I only get to see during fashion week. I’m also looking forward to visiting the Discovery Lab at the designer showrooms and getting to know more about The Sustainability Angle organisation.
How much time goes into planning an outfit (be honest!) and what is your fail-proof wardrobe item?
Not long as I don’t tend to experiment when getting dressed. I stick to my capsule wardrobe staples and the pieces that I feel most confident in. So in a way, I’ve got my uniform down – a jumpsuit at night, a biker jacket, or an oversized well tailored blazer styled with simple basics.
Describe your style in three words
I’d like to think it’s effortless, minimal and a bit rock’n’roll, just like my brand’s aesthetic.
A 50mm prime lens for my Sony camera, which I am totally obsessed with.
I am really looking forward to speaking at my first London Fashion Week Fesrtival (LFWF) panel with Sheerluxe on 22nd of February. I am also launching a collection of outerwear pieces I’ve designed in collaboration with Dom Goor which will be available to buy this August.
Do you love being snapped for street style?
Yes I do, but only when I’ve had my hair done 🙂
Where do you go to be seen – and see fashion people? What’s your fave hangout place?
I rarely go out nowadays due to work and busy family life. But normally, brand launches, fashion week or press-days as this is where I get to catch up with my industry friends. And I love the monthly #PushCONNECT events!
After parties – yes or no?
Yes. I’m always up for an after party but I never tend to stay up too late anymore – early wake up calls and school drop offs are not worth a hangover! I’ve had my fair share during NYFW, but think I better be a bit more sensible now that I’m back in London.
