What is PR? How do you engage influencers? What assets should start-ups invest in first?

Push hosted the second PR Remastered event with the London Fashion Agency in the showroom this week.

This is how we inform start-ups, independent brands and emerging etalent on exactly what PR means, the importance of investing in it and how to reach and engage with the right consumer.

PR Remastered

Guest panellists Clemmie Telford of lifestyle blog Mother Of All Lists (who also freelances for Facebook) and Katherine Sandford-Anderson, Founder of Sandford PR, joined Emma Hart and Rosie Davies alongside Frances Card, a Luxury Retail Consultant, who played chairwoman.

The floor was open for guests to ask the panel questions on everything from talking to media, print and digital strategy, influencer marketing to investment in assets.

Here are a few gems of wisdom to note from the event (keep tabs on our social platforms for details on May’s PR Remastered).

“What will keep you going is your network; make sure you’re always talking to people.”

Emma Hart, Push PR Founder & Creative Director

“Any PR strategy needs to work back from your business objectives and your audience.”

Emma Hart

“Your assets are key, please invest in assets! You have to have product and lifestyle photography.”

Rosie Davies, London Fashion Agency Director

“As a brand you must invest in time so that you can build strategy.”

Katherine Sandford-Anderson, Design and Architecture PR

“The consumer MUST be at the centre of your campaign. Focus groups are a huge part of our business model.”

Emma Hart

“I appreciate it when I’m approached by PRs who have done their research and actually read my blog.”

Clemmie Telford, Blogger and Consultant

“Up your content. Have a clear content calendar that goes beyond social media.”

Rosie Davies

“As an influencer, or content creator, I want to work with big brands but I also want to support small businesses and brands.”

Clemmie Telford

“I get a lot of invites but I’ll use my going out credits on events I know my friends will be at.”

Clemmie Telford

“Small events are better; a lovely dinner with the right mix of people can be really powerful.”

Clemmie Telford

“Never gift anything to anyone without doing the appropriate research or having had a dialogue.”

Emma Hart

“Be aware of what’s going on in the industry. Be an authority. Share relevant information with your network.”

Katherine Sandford-Anderson

“PR is personal relationships, it’s trust, it’s honesty.”

Emma Hart

“Be brave, have a go. Fail fast and learn from it.”

Clemmie Telford

“I look for honesty from brands, don’t pretend you’re bigger than you are.”

Clemmie Telford

“You are your brand. I have a PR strategy for Push to ensure that we are an authority within the industry.”

Emma Hart

“As a potential client you should have a clear brief. Ask the PR agencies you are talking to who their consumers are and what media they are talking to.”

Emma Hart

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy the way you do it.”

Rosie Davies

“Know your own behaviours as a consumer, if you’re not interested in Snapchat then don’t be on Snapchat. My personal style on social is quite ad hoc, I’m not into flatlays.”

Clemmie Telford

“When it comes to influencers, tread with caution. Do they genuinely speak to your target audience? Do they have real reach? There must be a strategy there because the right influencer or celebrity can absolutely transform your business.”

Emma Hart

“As a brand ensure that you PR your PR – share your success.”

Rosie Davies

“Print and online; it’s never one or the other it’s always both. Strategy must be aligned. Everything you do should talk to your consumer through print and digital.”

Emma Hart

“You’re a brand before you’re a product; creativity is absolutely key.”

Emma Hart

“As a brand, you must get your elevator pitch right.

Katherine Sandford-Anderson

“Don’t pay for advertorials; they don’t translate to sales and don’t add credibility to your brand.”

Rosie Davies

“Never underestimate who the person is you’re sitting next to to. Never stop having conversations.”

Emma Hart
