Push Beauty Director, Zoe Robertson, meets Melissa Day of Niroshini Cosmetic Acupunture to talk “non-surgical” face-lifts and try a specialist massage that incorporates facial and cosmetic acupuncture techniques.
Here’s what you need to know about the treatment and why we’re championing the natural lift.
Working with a team of twenty something women with youthful, radiant skin, I find that my 42-year-old self has become rather vain in the quest for that seemingly mythical glow of years gone by.
When it comes to natural, alternative therapies I have always had one foot firmly placed in the sceptical camp. That said, the promise of a complete rejuvenation from the inside out sent me off to Mayfair to meet our new Push Beauty client Melissa Day, Founder of Niroshini Cosmetic Acupuncture.
The Niroshini Cosmetic Acupuncture Ritual starts with an eye reading during which Melissa gave me a detailed account of where my body is experiencing blockages – both physical and emotional. After this I was told to lie down onto the treatment bed so that Melissa could begin to insert the 30 acupuncture needles to my face.
Each needle is inserted into a corresponding area of concern that has been identified by detailed consultation prior to treatment. The needles improve blood flow, tone muscles and stimulate collagen production when inserted at various acupuncture points which helps the skin to plump and regenerate.
While the needles were left in to work their magic, I was treated to a hand and arm massage – and despite the odd tingling sensation from some of the acupuncture points I felt incredibly relaxed. Melissa removed the needles and then combined specialised lymphatic drainage on my back and neck with facial massage which is an essential part of the treatment as it works to eliminate toxins.
When I looked in the mirror post-treatment, not only was my skin glowing but my jaw line looked and felt visibly tighter and the lines around my eyes had disappeared.
I am a definite convert.
